Shawls
. . .
- I was six years old . .
.
- when my mother brought home a handspun, hand-woven rebozo (shawl) she had purchased in
Mexico. I have been wrapping myself in exotic textiles and handmade shawls ever since. But
my favorites are still the rebozos: long rectangular fringed shawls woven and worn
by many Mexican women in rural villages.
-
- I weave shawls using rayon, tencel, raw silk, mohair, and handspun wool. I create
shawls that stand out in a crowd. People want to touch them, to cuddle up in their
folds.
-
- My shawls are 27-30" wide x 80-85" inches long. Some have a twisted fringe,
others are knotted. Tying off the fringe is an art in itself.
